New Dragon

Well, only the head and neck of one. This is the start, basic Zsperes to get the rough shape.

Hit the adaptive skin button and now I can mess with the base, add bulk, detail or cut into the model.

I forgot to save a few steps, but here I changed the model material from the basic red to a matte modelling material and you can change the colour to pretty much what you want but I tends to leave it either white or grey, works better for me when working.

Side view, adding basic teeth and spikes. Building up the model's basic shapes before I hit the divide button which increases the number of polygons in the model.

I have hit the divide button here and you can see the different look, much smoother, and more polygons. I can go back and forth along the subdivision levels and can work on any of those levels as needed.

I still plan on doing a small tutorial on Low Poly art but probably not going to for 3d work since there is so much to teach and there is already a lot of good tutorials online that are easy to follow and get started with. Maybe do a very brief over view of what software is out there to use tho and I will make sure to mention the free ones lol

(edit, actually I might make a simple tutorial for zbrush because I do like teaching people how to do things)

Robin Red Breast

Two types of Robins for todays left handed sketches. A European Robin, tiny and angry at everything but so cute you just laugh at the grumpy little things, (unless you are getting dive bombed by one and then you wish you had a giant flyswatter).

And an American Robin, much bigger and I find not as angry as their tiny relatives.

Scribble Picnic- Lady Bug

This weeks Scribble Picnic theme is lady bug/lady bird so I just made up a cute confused looking lady bug for this week.

When ever I think of lady bugs I think of Asian beetles because I remember one year in Ontario where the house was invaded by them and they bite. You think they are innocent lady bugs and go to get it out of the house and then it bites you :/

Of course I made up a simple pattern of the bugs together.

Our world Tuesday

The weather the last 2 days has been gorgeous, sunny, hot and clear blue skies. Yes I live in Scotland and yes it is often grey and rains a lot, but not usually as much as it has been lately. Not much of a summer, so took advantage of the sun to get some reading done, but now look like a boiled lobster lol

Adding Colour

I've had a few friends say to me I should try adding colour to some of my left hand sketches, so I did lol

This is a Hyacinth Macaw, (#142). I wanted a very loose watercolour feel to it. basic colours so the lines don't get lost.

A different, even more loose watercolour style for a Kingfisher (#143). I like both styles, and it would depend on the bird to which one I would use. A more flashy bird would obvs. get more colour to it.
