Weekly Book Wrap Up

To Catch a Highlander (MacLean Curse, #3)To Catch a Highlander by Karen Hawkins
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Not expecting much from this style of romance story besides maybe to not be as boring as it is.

Starship TroopersStarship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am not usually into books about the military, but I enjoyed this one. An easy well written story, good amount of world building, little slow in some parts but also some good talking points made about the rights and wrongs of society at the time and present (future).

Not goofy like the movie at all, (which is good for a laugh), and not a lot of action, interesting take on military tech with the suits and weapons used.

Graphic Noval #6

Two more finished comic page 6 above and page 4 below. I have started already to edit page 6 in Photoshop by darkening more specific areas but it might need more work before I am done.
Not sure if it is easy to see here, but there is supposed to be a creature lurking in the trees. Might have to darken some areas and lighten others to make it more obvious. or maybe its too obvious and will just have to darken the whole thing.

Sketches #309 & 310

Weight lifting equipment, a bunch of weights on a dumbbell  and a kettle bell. I can't even lift the kettle bell lol, they are John's weights.

So, so very busy right now but need to take them time to sketch or I will just end up giving up on the challenge and I am so close to finishing.

Now back to painting, wish me luck because I am going to need it lol

Magazine Layout

This was a very short project, under 5 weeks. That might seem like a lot of time and I have had shorter deadlines before, but we had to take our own photos for this project, which does cut into time needed to get everything finished.

The photos were supposed to be Dundee based, but I can't walk (stumble/fall) around Dundee so was allowed to take photos around Kirriemuir instead, hence why my layout is heavily Barrie/Peter Pan based. We didn't have to write the article, but I probably could have if we had an extra week.

5 page magazine focusing on white space and designing for it. Might change things, haven't decided yet. Going to put it away for a few days and then decide if this is the final version.

Graphic Novel #5

Three pages of line art for my little comic. I didn't need to draw a lot of detail since I can fill that in with watercolour and because watercolour can be a little unpredictable in what it decides to do, I don't want to have to fill in all kinds of little areas if the paint is going to do it for me, or not as sometimes happens. Love the unpredictability of watercolour, but it can cause you to want to tear your hair out at the same time.

Page 2 is above, page 3 is below. You can tell I spend a lot of time drawing up odd creatures when you see the wendigo type creature here.

And page 4 here. There are 4 more pages but I dont have them scanned yet to show people. The comic is all drawn tho because if it wasn't, I would not be sleeping lol
