Poly Art-Dog

The start of making more poly art. This time from a photo of a husky. I'm just practicing using some programs to see which ones I prefer. Not using Illustrator for most of this one, but doing this the long way with a program like Illustrator does give you more control of where the triangles go, but can take a lot longer.

The daily sketch for today is part of an ink brush. I've never actual used it, usually just use normal everyday brushes when I use ink.

Sketches #208 & #209

A really oddly shaped magnifying glass that is actually round in person lol

A tiny wire brush which can be used to get rust off of metal. You just have to be careful none of the little metal hairs fall out onto the floor because they stick into your feet. And yes, this hurts.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

The FiremanThe Fireman by Joe Hill
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While parts of this could have probably been cut out, it was a quick read that I couldn't put down. The main characters could have maybe been fleshed out a bit more, but I did feel like you do care what happens to them. The big reveal at the end you could have seen coming a mile off it is used so much in fiction and in movies.
Can really tell how much his dad influenced the novel if you have read earlier King stories.

'Salem's Lot'Salem's Lot by Stephen King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Way before King's writing got way too stupid/pretentious, you have a great little dracula retelling. Yes, could have been shorter, he does have a habit of including detail that does not matter at all, (ok so maybe he has been really pretentious his whole writing career :p), but over all the story is interesting, and good quick look into small town life and its characters. The main characters are actually pretty boring compared to the town's inhabitants.

Finished Poly Art Dragon

I'm done working on this dragon lol. I like how it turned out but time to move on to the next thing to try to get finished in th 3 weeks before uni starts back up.

And here is a close up of a section showing all of the triangles. It can get pretty tedious with all the clicking and colouring to try to have it be a recognizable image.

There are a few ways to make this type of art. Some needing a very, very basic knowledge of programs like illustrator or Photoshop. Other ones, you can just either click around or use sliders to create the art. Some ways are better then others, it really all depends on how much control you want over your final image on which program you use. I did think about making a post with more info about the different programs, so hopefully I get time to write that since I have had a few people ask me about it.
