Snap, it was snowing here in The Midlands at the lakes this morning. There are cameras set up to show the conditions for fishing and we had snow. Yours is prettier and nicer. Brrr!!
Snow - Such fun! Your lawn looks like it's coping quite well with the weather.
Your horses are looking fabulous as well - I like orange, nothing wrong with that.
Re: your Faber castell pencils - you get what you pay for with students vs artists quality. I was given some aquarells - very hard and not a lot of pigment density. Try Fabers' Albrecht Dürer pencils. These are the artist quality ones and are like painting with butter - just divine! I use these guys for all my underpaint sketching, most recently the whale & waves one. YOu can rub or wipe out any lines oyu don't like without a trace left behind on the canvas.
This weeks colours for The Summer of Color are 2 purples and a yellow and this is what I did with them. Not my favorite colours so really racked my brain trying to think how I could use them and which bird to use. Decided to go with a juvenile Golden Eagle since I don't have any photos of a purple bird :p I think I prefer the black background, the yellow seems to stand out more against it. Which do you prefer?

the lawn is all stones, but grass here usually stays green all year round and does pretty well in the winter
Deletei will have to try those pencils :) thanks
Love the orange horse. It pops in the foreground, and adds movement. You can always tone it down later if you must.
ReplyDeletestill needs a lot of blending so will probably not end up as bright :/
