Toucan WIP #3

Image
Love the paper colour, but it is a pain to scan or take a photo of :p And not having much luck trying to get it to look right digitally, its close here, but then the Toucan looks a little washed out.

Paper Cuts Galore

Image
A not yet finished mask. Need more to the face, but I like the hair and the pineapple looking object on the top,(its a woven sphere left open). One of my favourite paintings is, ' The Horse Fair ', figured it was about time I studied it more, and that means doing a few quick little sketches from it. I've seen a study of the panting, and fell in love with it. I find it so interesting to see the changes that were made on the final, and can see why she changed things around. Was supposed to have college today, but woke up and was in a lot of pain, really hard to walk :/ Its a tad frustrating because I don't want people to think I'm just skiving.

Toucan W.I.P #2

Image
Started to colour the little Toucan. I really like this paper colour, 'Lagoon', at 15 pence a sheet. I wish  had of grabbed all of it when it was on sale. Huh, just realized this photo is actually bigger than the  drawing in person :p Added prints of the Orca print to Etsy. Didn't put the actual print online for sale yet since I might need to put it in my portfolio.

Blue

Image
Little finished lino of a whales tail. Yes, I know the registration doesn't line up perfectly, I should lie and say that its on purpose (its not :p), but I still like how it turned out. The blue looks like shadowing on the fluke. There is a blue gradient to the water, but it isn't really showing up on the scan :/ I really need to practice more with getting registration lines to line up properly, out of 20 prints I am lucky sometimes to get one properly aligned print.Practice makes perfect I guess.....onto the next print.

Finished Life Drawing

Image
Well as finished as its going to be, on to a new pose next week. And I really have to remember to not wear black trousers when using pastels, by the end of class I look like I have gone swimming in pastel dust :p

Orca Lino

Image
Finished linocut :) I did a few with blue instead of red, but they didn't look as good, a little washed out. I want to clean this image up and make some designs for fabric and possibly other items for zazzle or cafepress.

A Carving We Will Go

Image
First Colour pass on a simple lino. And yes I use a clothes screen to hang prints to dry on. Space is at a premium in this house :p

Orca

Image
Started carving a lino of an Orca, or better known as a Killer Whale. This is a pretty simple design but I wanted really solid colours against the white. My back is loving all this carving :p

Froot Loops?

Image
Lineart for a Toucan :) I love these birds and their colourful beaks, make for a really bright drawing. And you have been able to get froot loops here for awhile, but they don't taste the same :/ Not enough sugar I think:p Not a lot of flavour to them. Oreos don't taste the same here either, they taste really bland. I could get both at a store in Dundee but the prices are insane...£1 or more for one can of pop o.0

Again with the nekkid people

Image
The start of a life drawing in colour done with charcoal and pastels.  I was covered in pastel dust, and I haven't even really started on the figure itself. Going to be sneezing rainbows again :p

Finished Dragon

Image
One finished dragon head. And yes I realize a lot of my dragons look the same :p No matter how hard I try to make them look different, they end up similar. I start out with an idea of the dragon in my head, but it never ends up looking the way I want. Maybe if I tried painting a dragon it might look different..or my luck it still would look the same :p

Music Monday

Image
A Canadian band, the line up is changing as the singer is leaving due to health reasons. Would have liked to have seen them on tour, but not much chance of that living here :p A lot of bands when they do come over here, stick to the bigger places, and usually Glasgow when they come to Scotland.

More on the Dragon Head

Image
dragonhead , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. I've taken an A4 sized sketchbook and decided that its just going to be full of fantasy creatures. Probably a lot of dragons, (and not just their heads :p),unicorns, gryphons etc, even fantasy landscapes. This dragon is moving along pretty fast, really like the eye :)

Grrrr

Image
Looks a tad angry :p Felt like drawing dragons again, its probably from playing Skyrim, and  I feel bad when I have to kill a dragon playing. And Ingrid was right, the sketch was a horse and this is what it looks like at the moment, Looks really odd at the moment as the shading is what will make the back legs looks right. Now they look too small and not really like horse legs :p

I Swear....

Image
this will be the last time I post these fish lol but I wanted to show the print matted,(even if the photo is crooked :p). I like the red matt, goes really nice with the red ink used for the fish. I am thinking about selling the prints I made of this, but since they don't line up exactly I am not sure if people would buy them.

What's Jen Drawing Now

Image
This is actually pretty easy to guess considering its something I draw a lot of :p

Music Monday

Image
Not usually the type of music I listen to but I really like her (it has nothing to do with the half naked men in the video...nope, not at all:p)

Finished Tiger

Image
For Sale And now to hopefully work on my owl :)

Slow and Steady

Image
Still needs work darkening up the shadows and stripes, but its getting there :) Haven't gotten as much art done the last 2 weeks that I would have liked, but I figure I do need a break from everything, every once and awhile.

Reading Challenge

Image
2013 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 4 books toward her goal of 50 books. hide 4 of 50 (8%) view books Doing another reading challenge this year, and since I read 70 books last year with a goal of 40, I thought I would up the challenge number to 50. It is so much easier to read with my phone then carry around a big book, and I can read on the bus with my phone, but can't read a physical book in a vehicle, which is odd. So if anyone has any book recommendations let me know :) Listed the lioness on Etsy :) Would be hard to part with, but running out of room on the walls or art lol
