Feathers, feathers everywhere :p

Listed this on Etsy since I don't need it for college any more :) Lots of work from college isn't actually worth keeping, but some of it I can try to sell.

To Burnish or Not to Burnish

Started on the beak, still need some darkening to add more of a 3D look and then I need to decide if I want to burnish the beak.

I don't burnish very often. I don't like the slick shiny look you usually get when using coloured pencils, but that effect would work for a beak....

A Background?

Slowly adding a background. I know,a background, its a shock. Figured it was about time to add backgrounds to cp pieces. I had to add background at college, so should be adding them to personal work.

And because the background is fuzzy and very loose, it doesn't matter so much when my hands go numb. I don't need to be precise, so as long as I can still hold a pencil, I can draw loose and fuzzy :p Could even use my left hand for it, if I lose all the feeling in my right.

Thats the plan this summer. Use my left hand more, since its mostly my right that is effected by the MS. So you might be treated to really bad sketches while I teach my left hand to work:l ots of really badly drawn circles and squares, hey you never know. I could actually draw better with my left.....

Parrot Eye

More work on the parrot, still shaky so its taking a bit longer to colour things, but at least its still possible.

Eye Close up

No idea why I chose this paper colour, not exactly the best colour for the parrots feather colours, but oh well. I will try to make it work :)

Bonfire Material?

I have all kinds of pieces of printed paper left over from experimenting with the Gelli Plate that I have no idea what to do with. Some, like this one, I really like, others I should probably put in the bonfire pile. Well, I would if we had a bonfire.

I really think a lot of the art I have done in college over the last few years would make good burning material...should burn pretty well due to all the turps :p

Nekkid Watercolour

This is the last painting we did in life drawing. I was the only one daft enough to do the painting in watercolours, everyone else did theirs in oils. And of course I ran out of time, partly because I missed 2 classes, partly because watercolours can be slow to use. But I still would have used watercolours, turps make me light-headed, and oil paint clean up is a pain to do. (I'm sure if class had of been longer, we all would have went loopy from the turp fumes :p)

And Jen was Never Seen Again

Yay :-D
I have wanted an e-reader for awhile and when Mr.F saw these for £29.00 I grabbed 2, (just in case I break one) :D Its great when my hands go numb and I can't turn a page but can swipe pages on a screen. I would go insane if I couldn't read, so one of these is perfect. It hardly weighs anything, the cover weighs more then the Nook :p

Kitchen at the moment....
And our kitchen at the the chip shop for tea :p

So I def. have tennis elbow, can't use a mouse or type properly. So while my hands are not 100% numb any more,(fingertips are still numb :/), I can't really move my arm. Doctors orders to rest, not a lot of drawing allowed,(I can draw, but only for a short time and lots of breaks), and no lifting with the arm. This will be a fun summer :p

Of course the only pain meds that work are Tramadol, which make a lot of people high as a kite :p Thankfully I am not one of those people or I would probably start drawing really psychedelic art

Play With Me!

Someone is very pushy when they want to play :p

A standing stone about 10 minutes walk from the house. There are a few stone circles a few hours away that I want to get some photos of, but want to wait until its a better day and the sun is shining *crosses fingers*
And the other side of the stone
The view is really nice on a sunny day, can see a lot more of the hills view

Learning to Draw Again

Well, sort of. My hands are not 100%, but good enough to try to draw something. The fingers are still numb, and my hand shakes when drawing, but it is still possible to start a drawing if I don't mind taking more time on it, (and erasing a lot of shaky lines :p) And of course, on top of numb hands, I might have tennis elbow, holding a mouse gets really painful and I can't move my arm certain directions or pick up things...I always say, if I was a horse, I would have been shot or turned into glue by now :p

One of the last things I managed to colour before my hands started to get messed up.I really like this, even tho its very loose compared to other things I draw.

If I have to give up using pencils because I can't draw detail, I would just switch to pastels because I can be really loose and expressive with them and still like the end result.

Numb Hands

So I haven't really been doing much drawing the last few days as my hands have been going numb on and off everyday since Wednesday. Little frustrating when I want to draw and I have a few things left to finish up for college.

Now saying numb is not exactly right. I have feeling in my hands, but can't control where they go. So when my hands get like this, using a pencil is out since I can't have any type of detail and can't really control where a pencil/brush/etc lands. And because it can be pretty painful, burning,(but my hands will be freezing) plus a pins and needles feeling,(like having a foot that has fallen asleep but times the feeling by 10), I can't do things I normally could.

And the feeling can last for hours, or last for minutes. It took me 3 times as long to draw that fox line art then it normally would because I had to stop as I couldn't hold the pencil at all. Typing is fun :p My fingers miss keys all the time, and my hand just gets too tired to move.

This has happened before, went away last time, and its more of a flare up then a relapse, so should go away with time again, (hopefully).

A lot of people don't realize how unpredictable MS can be.  One moment you could be fine, have energy, be able to walk, be "normal". And then in the next moment, you could stumble, have problems walking, lose your sight, have problems talking, the list is endless. You can't really predict when any of this can happen, you can sometimes try to avoid situations that might trigger a symptom, (I try to avoid really warm places, I can get to the point I can't move at all if I get too warm), but avoiding possible triggers is not always possible. Nothing triggered my numb hands, they just happened.

I have been thinking of talking more about how MS affects me in the blog, haven't really before since I don't want to come across as wanting sympathy. But I know there are some people that are curious about MS and how a person can deal with it, so might start talking about it more. And it gives me something to write about when I can't draw.
