Finished Falcon

Image
So in between coughing I managed to get this done, but it really only needed about 20 minutes worth of work to finish it. Which is a good thing since I feel like I have been run over by a lorry :/ And I have to finish an essay tomorrow while my brain is mush...yay.

Throwback Thursday

Image
My sister, me, dad and his dog Baxter. If that dog was still alive now, he would be getting a bath PDQ :p No date written on it, no idea how old we are here, but you have to love the pink paints :p And in present day, I can't speak *and the world jumps for joy* :p Hope I am not coming down with a throat infection, just wish it had of happened next week when we are off. I was doing so well with not getting sick and now I can't seem to avoid it :/

Falcon #3

Image
Busy, busy, busy, so not yet done with this :p Off next week, so should get this and the tiger done *crosses fingers* And then after next week we only have 4 weeks of class time left but are not done until May 29, and then hopefully back next year *crosses fingers again* This year of Uni has gone by very very fast.

Building

Image
So at the moment I am in the middle of doing 2 weeks in Interior Environmental Design and this is one of the rooms/boxes/building I designed for it. Based on Alice in Wonderland, using the colours of a deck of cards and a slide to act like falling down a hole. I love using this program, (SketchUp), obviously there is a lot I don't know how to do with it yet, but its a lot of fun to use. No word of the week this week, my left jaw is acting up and it hurts to talk :( Hopefully I can manage to talk by Friday since we have a presentation to do for this class *crosses fingers*

Falcon #2

Image
Small update on the little Falcon. This shouldn't take too long to finish *crosses fingers* Working small can be a good thing and a bad thing. Good that I can get these etchings done fast; bad because I can't be detailed obsessed :p

More Sketches

Image
People have seen these over on Instagram but I want to post them here for people not using Instagram :)Sky and the eagle were done with the Derwent pens I reviewed the other day but with water added to the lines. I really like this look, simple but effective. And after drawing this I want to try the image as a lino block so made up a block ready to carve when I get some spare time.

1981 and me in a lovely yellow thing plus a huge dummie :p You can still see my extra finger in this photo, so more proof to show people other then the huge ass scar on the side of my hand.

Falcon #1

Started another etching, even tho I said I would finish the tiger first. But this is a lot smaller then the tiger, about 16 by 12 cm, so easier to work on when I have a few spare minutes at Uni. While there are still feathers I need to etch, they are a lot easier to etch on this little Falcon then they were on the eagle .

Quick Quick

Image
10 second sketches of an owl. This is from some photos we took in the local wildlife park, but I timed myself since being able to sketch quickly from life can be really  important when your subject moves around a lot. At least they sort of look like owls lol

Posted music from them before but really like them :)

Pen Review

Image
So I went and bought new pens/markers to try sine I have been hearing great things about them. Bought a black set of Derwent Graphik Line Markers and a coloured set of their Line Painter pens. Put the black pens to the test first. Very nice and dark and no ink blobs or spluttering from the pen nibs. The pens flowed well, didn't get stuck on the paper like some other brands can. There were 3 in the pack, 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 so its easy to get detailed work. Would have been nice to have a brush option to fill in big areas with but I guess you could just use a lot of hatching for that. Would probably get these over the Pitt pens I normally use, the price is about the same and even cheaper in some places with my student discount. Will review the coloured ones in a few days once I try them on different types of paper. *edited* Forgot to mention that if the lines from these pens get wet, they will run so if you don't want that to happen, stick to Pitt pens. :)

St.Patrick's Day Dragons #2

Image
Adding colour :) Thought I should keep it simple and not go to detailed or use too many colours.

St.Patrick's Day Dragons #1

Image
I know the day is way more than just about drinking, but people do drink a lot on the day :p So some little dragons getting a little tipsy. I am going to add colour to this and would normally do something like this in coloured pencil, but I don't have the time and want to try something different and simplier. I can always do another one with the pencils if I don't like the way this one looks when finished.

Throwback Thursday

There is no date on the back of this photo. I could be 8 in the photo, not much older and once again I look very happy lol All I remember about this trip is trying to feed all of the chipmunks around the cabin since they were pretty tame.

Tools Down!

Image
OK no more messing with this. Need to stop etching before I mess something up.Small tweaks done to it that are hard to notice unless you put the last photo next to it, but I am not touching it again lol Well, until I print from it. Feather detail since a few people said they like seeing the detail shots, even if it can be a little confusing trying to figure out what part of the work it comes from. This is part of the wing, but thats easy to tell from the feathers :)

Oh Canada #2

Image
No Canadian Word of the Week this Sunday because I feel blagh and have an ear infection so can't tell if I am yelling at the camera :p So here is some more Canadian themed art instead.

Countdown to the Finsih

Image
Now onto the really furry part :p Which is really just lots of scribbling and making an organized mess to try to make it look like wiry fur. I still need to add a bit of shading to the forhead but will wait until the rest is done so I don't make the area too dark.

Oh Canada

Image
Some people have already seen these on Instagram but, maple leaf totem poles to celebrate Canada Day :) For Uni we had to design something large scale for an event/issue/cultural work, so after drawing a big blank, I went with Canada Day. Would be very cool to have these 30 feet tall or more and multiple of them put up so people could walk around like they were in a forest. And having Canada on the brain, decided to try to get some shirts made :) I just might end up getting one printed at a printers around here made for myself lol

January Book Wrap UP

Image
6 books finished in January, so already behind in my reading goal, but figure I can get caught up in the summer :) Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really liked this book, fast paced and very interesting. Really like the explanations of what all the different metals in the story do and how people can use them. I thought the world building was well done and the main characters were well written and likeable. Predictable ending, but really didn't expect anything different when the whole story was about trying to kill a very bad man. The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson My rating: 3 of 5 stars The first half of this book I found boring and almost stopped reading but I decided what the hell, keep reading. Glad I did, the pace of the story picked up, and I felt like an idiot when it was revealed who the spy was, didn't even enter my mind it was that person :p Onto the next since I do like the author's writing style, jus

Back to Drawing

Image
Almost half done. Going to finish this before I start anything else. Normally I would just start a new piece, but I really like how this looks and want to finish it so it doesn't end up in the growing "did not finish pile". There isn't a lot of space left in that container lol
