More Seals

Image
Sat in the sun in the backyard and worked on the seal etching. The end is in sight now, well at least with the rock. But the seals shouldn't take anywhere near as long to finish as the rock has. The rock still needs shading to make it look more 3D, but that is just a case of darkening some areas the sun wouldn't be hitting. Sketch #130. If I can't think of anything to sketch, a tool or DIY supply is easy enough to find in this house to sketch for the challenge.

365 Sketches #129

Image
I can't remember if I have drawn a little tube of paint before, but if I have, practice makes perfect. I should have been writing down everything I have drawn for the challenge but too late now to go back and write everything down, would take awhile to find all the scans.

Halloween Dragon #2

Image
The frame work for another Halloween dragon. I thought people might find it interesting to see a base before it was coloured. And now coloured. I think my style with Illustrator is going to be cartoonish. It suits me and while I could and probably will improve, not sure if the style will change. I don't have a problem with that being my style digitally with this program, I can keep the more detailed stuff to Painter , but some people might think it is a bit too simple. But simple can be good.

Sunday Sketches

Image
Two 365 sketches since I took the day off yesterday from doing any drawing to try to help my shoulder to heal, didn't help but was worth a shot.  A glass shot glass above, which we never actually use. Neither of us are really big drinkers, actually don't drink very much at all. There is Cider from Xmas a year and a half ago still in the fridge lol And a plastic pill bottle of Vit D tablets since "they" think there might be a link between MS and lack of Vit D, so people with MS should be taking Vit D tablets. Doesn't hurt to take them so anything is worth a shot to try to help.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
The weather has been pretty grey out so haven't been able to sit on the back porch and read in the sun, (which you do get in Scotland, even if people think it just rain all the time), but managed to finish 3 books. The Falcon at the Portal by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 3 of 5 stars Beside the stupid decisions by a certain character that were completely out of character for that character, this was a good book in the series. You just have to put aside almost all of the character development from the past books to not roll your eyes at the story and shake your head in disbelief. He Shall Thunder in the Sky by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 4 of 5 stars The series improves with adding the start of WW1, gives the characters more life seeing how they deal with how it effects the people they care about. Predictable ending as always, but it really couldn't have ended any other way. I did say I was going to take a break from re-reading the series but at this point, I migh

Halloween Dragon Redone

Image
I did like this when I finished it last week but I thought it needed something, so re-coloured it to the one below. I think this one works better with the gradients helping with the shading. Its a good thing I am taking Graphic Design in Uni since I am enjoying figuring out all of these programs way too much. Never a waste of time to learn a new skill but I might as well end up with a useless piece of paper at the end of it all, (*note, useless piece of paper is not really useless if it gets  a person a job, and at the very least could be used as kindling if you are too poor for heating).

365 Sketches #126

Image
A sketch of my glasses which I can now wear without the world being fuzzy but they have never fitted properly so I bought some new ones the other day which hopefully turn up next week. And back on antibiotics for a possibly infected root canal, yay....

365 Sketches #125

Image
A very simple sketch for today of a slip on shoe. It does have polka-dots but, truth be told, I was lazy when sketching this lol

Throwback Thursday

Image
A couple of unfinished sketches from 2003. Two dragons with rune writing, and I have no idea what it means now lol And a horse sketch that I abandoned probably because I couldn't get the ears to look right.

What's on your Workdesk? May 25th

Image
This week on What's in your Workdesk? , back to re-doing my Halloween dragons because after a few days I didn't like how it looked 100%. Thankfully easy enough to fix since its really just a case of clicking a button and dragging some sliders to mess with the colours. And I've pulled a muscle in my shoulder, so as much as I want to finish the seal etching I started months ago, I probably wont be able to until my shoulder feels better. And yes, I need to clean my desk off lol One of the many screwdrivers in the house. You never know when you might need one and its pouring rain outside and can't be arsed going to get one.

365 Sketches #123

Something you don't see very often anymore. A roll of camera film, which you can still get, but often have to do a lot of searching to find what you want.

365 Sketches #122

Image
My anenome looking a little battered from all the rain we have been having the last 2 days. Poor thing looks even worse now, petals torn to shreds.

Sunday Sketches

Image
A few more Halloween dragons to go with the one I just finished. A little more angry looking dragon plus a reminder to vector some candy to go with the pumpkins.  Its not Halloween without junk food lol I don't always have to have a sketch when I use Illustrator, but I do find it helps to have at least a basic drawing so I have some kind of idea of what I want the finished design to look like. And a needle threader since I find it almost impossible to thread a needle with shaking hands.

Finished Halloween Dragon

Image
I finished one of the Halloween dragons last night and since I did post a work in progress here I decided to post the finished version here instead of wait until the other blog is finished being set up. I kept it to simple colours and fairly thick lines. I did go and have a look at what it would look like with gradients, but it was way too busy for me. Going to get at least 2 more sketched up and ready for being vectored in the next few days, thats the plan anyway.

365 Sketches #120

Image
A pepper grinder we never actually use, just sits on the counter. I think mostly because its a pain to refill.

Halloween Dragon #1

Image
The start of a  Halloween dragon. I might if I have time, make more of these little dragons doing different things and then have then lined up in a row. I want them to just have flat colours, so no gradients and pretty simple shapes. I am thinking of just putting all of the digital stuff on another blog and then leave the traditional art here, plus random things that happen. I have it set up but it still needs some modifying before I make it live.

365 Sketches #119

Image
A small totem pole I have on a bookshelf. No idea what the animals besides the bird are supposed to be, thought maybe a bear. Looks like a very angry bear if it is that lol

365 Sketches #118

Image
I've drawn this before, but not for this challenge. A mold of my top teeth, easy to figure out its the top since I am missing 3 teeth on the bottom row. And I haven't been drawing a lot the last few days because my wrist/hand had an encounter with a fence post. Its hard to see in photos, no matter how much I mess with it in Photoshop, but the bruise shows up pretty well in person.

Throwback Thursday

Image
Blame living in Alberta for this one. Drawn at 15, 20 years ago making me feel really old. I drew a lot of these swirly things growing up, still do when I am bored.

365 Sketches #117

Image
An ice cream scoop I always forget we have so end up stabbing the ice cream with a spoon which results in a lot of bent spoons lol

365 Sketches #116

Around here, if a person needs to buy a tool, I always say ask John first before you go and buy it since he probably already has it ("not that I lend them willingly lol" John, does lend tools to his dad all the time tho because he treats them right) This is one of many spanners or a wrench if you prefer. Yes there are tools in the kitchen, but if you need a screw driver you don't have to go outside to the garage to get it :p

365 Sketches #115

A utensil is todays prompt for every day in May. We don't have any fancy or pretty utensils, just practical plain ones so its a very simple little sketch.
