Weekly Book Wrap Up

Authority (Southern Reach, #2)Authority by Jeff VanderMeer
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

boring boring boring :/ Too long and tedious

You don't learn anything really about Area X that you didn't know before and the "big" surprise at the end is really the only thing that happens. The main narrator is boring, the only thing that saves this book are the other characters in the book. Skip to the last 50 or so pages because the rest is forgettable.

disappointed since I enjoyed the first one so much, probably wont finish the series unless I can get the last book free from the library

Inktober #19 and #20

I forgot to post this yesterday, I didn't have it finished, but I am still counting it as a day for Inktober. Ran out of time to finish it before I fell asleep after trying to get uni work finished.

Quickly finished it so I could manage to get an ink drawing done for today.

A tiny green dragon for todays inktober. Remembered I had colour ink pens so thought I would use the today for a bit of a change.

Inktober #17

A fuzzy dragon :D This scan was before I started shading it, I was scared I would mess up, but thankfully I didn't.

The finished fuzzy dragon. I don't draw enough fuzzy dragons and I should considering its my business name. I want to vector this so I have a version I can use for different things such as business cards.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Annihilation (Southern Reach, #1)Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

OK first of all, this isn't really a 4 star book, more like a 3 star, but because I did enjoy reading it, read it in 2 days, and I am curious as to what is going on, the book gets a 4. My biggest problem with this book is you have this whole new area to explore and discover and write about, but I didn't think the author had enough world building to fully do that. I understand the book is set in a limited area, but it didn't really feel like that area was written about well enough. There are some parts that are described so well you knew they would show up someway in the story later, the lighthouse for example, I wish that every setting in the story was described as much as the lighthouse was. But I enjoy world building so this might not bug anyone else lol
